Day 1 starts 5 miles west of Bishop, California (200 miles south of Reno, 200 miles north of Lancaster). Travel 4.3 miles northwest of Bishop on Highway 395, turn left on Ed Powers for 0.2 miles, then right on Sawmill Road for one mile, take two lefts into the Millpond Campground.
Day 2 starts just north and 2.5 miles east of Big Pine, California (215 miles south of Reno, 185 miles north of Lancaster) at the junction of Highway 168 and the Death Valley Road.
